With spinning saws and whirring lathes, the woodshop has the capacity to be one of the more dangerous rooms in any makerspace. Woodworking can be a safe and engaging hobby or career if you follow some basic woodworking safety rules. While almost all of the rules are common-sense ideas, failure to follow them can greatly increase the chance of injury when working with the tools. Thus, SAF150 is the first (and only mandatory) course that makers must take before using the woodshop.
Makers attending SAF150 learn how to work safely in the wood shop, including best practices and techniques for adhering to a variety of different safety rules, situations, and guidelines.
